The cat is scarey smart...
She's learned how to change the stations on my clock radio. I have it on a loud rap station, not because I like that kind of music, but because it will blast me out of bed in the morning.

Usually Salena (the cat) will switch it to easy listening. Not this morning. She put it on a country & western station. I didn't even know she liked George Straight...

O_O ... I'm not sure I WANT to know...
On my way into work this morning I saw an elderly woman walking down the street.

So? You're all asking. Well...

She was wearing fuzzy pink pajamas, fuzzy slippers, and carrying what appeared to be a broom handle. She seemed to be using the broom handle to lead an imaginary parade.

No one else on the street looked twice at her in all her fuzzy pink glory, so either she was having a hallucination or I was.

Now I got to figure out which.

About my cat Baby...
She took a turn for the worse last night. She couldn't even lift up her head without shaking, so the decision was made to end her suffering.

The only vet open Sunday night is in the next town and they carge an arm and a leg. They even charged an extra $35 just so I could stay with Baby when they put her to sleep.

I just wanted to thank everyone for keeping us in your thoughts during this time. If I'm not around much for the next few days you'll know why.

*hugs*

Finally heard back from the Vet...

Blood test results for my cat Baby were back.  Baby has anemia.  They don't know the cause, or why she was running a fever though.  Normal redblood count in cats is around 30% and she's down to 14%.

He told me to get some NutraCal and force her to eat some to build up her strength and try kitten food.  Went to PetCo last night, 10.99 for the NutraCal, and .99 each for cans of kitten food.

She's only eaten about a teaspoon of food, but I've gotten her to eat a little of the NutraCal by prying her mouth open and putting some on her tongue.

She also needs some dental work, but there's no sense in even thinking about that if I can't get her weight back up and get her to eat.  Right now she's too weak to put under and have her teeth done.

The vet also mentioned the possibility of giving her hormone shots and/or iron shots but said they are "very expensive".  I think that if they don't know what's causing the anemia, the shots probably wouldn't be very effective anyway.

If she doesn't start eating soon, there is a distinct possibility that I'll have to have her put down.  She's only 5 years old.  This shouldn't be happening.  I've been so worried about my 14-year-old cat who's been sick that I never thought one of my young cats would be the one to go first.

No good, horrible, really bad day...

*sigh*

Okay:  My cat Baby has been acting odd for 5 days.  Last night she started refusing food & water and felt hot.  Rushed her to the vet today.  Her fever was 104.7 which is 3 degrees above normal.  Doctor is running blood work and gave her shots of inflammatorys & antibiotics.  Total: $240.

I need to keep her quarantined until we know what this is, so I stopped on the way home to buy an extra litter box for her.  When I got back in the car it wouldn't start.  Finally managed to get it started after 15 minutes and got home but the car was running pretty rough.

Got home, set up the bathroom as a sickroom for the cat, worked on the car.  Was over heating so Dad put more antifreeze in etc.  Car started up okay, so I used it to get to work (4 hours late).

Got to work and steam started pouring out from under the hood.  I have no idea what's wrong with it, and after having to borrow money from the parentals to cover the vet bill (don't get paid until next week) I certainly don't have the funds to get it fixed.

I try not to post about politics here...

Really I do.  Especially now when everyone seems to have lost their tiny little minds.

But this:  http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NTQzNWU3YjliYzQwNDQwYjE1Y2U0MzA5NjU1MTYyZWY

I suffer from Shopping Cart Rage
Which is the uncontrollable need to ram some idiot with your shopping cart with enough force to send them flying into a display of over-priced cr*p.

Well today I finally got my paycheck so I went to the bank to deposit it. The bank branch is located in the grocery store, so I decided to pick up a few items while I was there.

I grab a cart, get some fruit, go to the back of the store for some milk & yogurt, then back to the front of the store to deposit my check at the atm. I park my cart, take 8 steps to the atm, deposit my check, turn around and... hey! where's my cart?!!?

I look around, and can't see anyone with my cart anywhere. Of all the !@#$<...

Okay, fine. I go back to the front of the store, get a cart, then go back and get the fruit, milk, yogurt... and there in the back of the store by the milk is my cart. Son of a... female dog...

Anyway, I step around the corner and wait, and sure enough here comes some woman grabbing the cart.

Me: Hey!

Her: *glares* What?

Me: You do know that's not your cart don't you?

Her: It is now. Saves me from having to go through the produce isle.

And that, your honor, is why I ran over her with my cart.... repeatedly.

More health woes...

Had a reaction to the water pills they put me on for my high blood pressure. My BP actually went UP to 170/105 and my resting heart rate was 105 (eeeppp!) I was also having severe stomach pains and weakness in my arms and legs.

Called the doctors office and explained my symptoms to the CNA. Was put on hold then had to explain my symptoms to the RN. Was put on hold again, then connected to my doctor (who is on vacation) and explained my symptoms a 3rd time.

Doctor took me of the water pills and switched me to 10mg linsapril (sp?). I try this once a day. If my BP doesn't go down to the 135/85 range or lower within 3 days, then I try taking the meds twice a day.

I hope this works. I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Health woes...
At the beginning of August I went to my regular doctor, because I needed a new prescription for my psoriasis meds.  While there they took my blood pressure and it was 177/92 (normal range is around or below 120/80).  They waited 15 minutes and took it again.  156/90.  Still too high.

Stargate Atlantis is being cancelled
It's been confirmed by both JM and Gate World.

This show is greatly loved by it's fans. We don't just watch the show, we buy the DVDs and other merchandise, go to the cons to hear the cast speak, we talk about our favorite episodes, and even write SGA fanfiction. I am very disappointed (though not overly surprised) in SciFi's blatant dismissal of the show's loyal fanbase. Stargate:Atlantis is the only remaining show on SciFi that I watch, and when the show goes, so will I.

There is a petition up to save the show.  It can be signed here:  Save SGA Petition

Spent the night at the Emergency Vets Office...
Our 16-year-old cat developed a prolapsed pooper. Looked like it was caused by her having trouble with dry poo, so we tried soaking her fanny in some warm water. All we ended up with was a dozen scratches each, and a soggy cat.

Only emergency vet is in the next town over. So we grab the cat and off we go. We had to wait for 15 minutes while the vet examined our cat. He then came in and said there was nothing wrong with the cat.

Say what?

He acted like we made up the whole thing. Like we were bored, so we decided a midnight trip to the vet (where we had to pay $120 just for the exam) was just the thing to liven up our dull existence.

Only thing I can think of is that the warm water relaxed the cat enough that everything went back to normal.

I'm just glad she's okay now, but I still want to thwap the vet.

Special Snowflakes
You've all heard stories about the "special snowflakes" I work with, but this one tops all the others.

One of our volunteers came in and wanted to ask me a question about postage stamps. She had 5 sheets of the Forever stamps (they're good even if postage goes up again), and I thought she wanted to know if the stamps were good now that the price of stamps has gone up.

No, she wanted to know if the "big stamps" were worth more. When I asked her what she meant, she pointed to the stamp book covers. I thought perhaps she was joking, but she was absolutely serious.

I was unable to convince her that the cover was not in fact a larger version of the stamp. She pointed out that it peeled off the sheet and the artwork was the same, therefore it was (in her mind) valid postage.

I just want to see the mail persons reaction when she tries to mail a letter using one of the "big stamps". LOL

Weirdos at work...
 Part 553:

The weirdos were circling the building early this morning.

I was actually 10 minutes early today.  Of course none of my co-workers were there to witness this.  There was, however, a strange pickup truck parked in the lot.

I kept my eye on it as I parked my car and got my stuff together, and the driver walked up to the car.  He told me that he was out of gas, and at first I thought he was going to hit up up for a handout (we get that a lot), but he said he had called a buddy to bring him enough gas to get his truck to a gas station.

When he asked if it was alright to wait in the parking lot I said it was.  He then walked back to his truck, started the engine and drove off!  Didn't seem out of gas to me, but I thought nothing of it and went on into the office.

A few minutes later I had to go back out to my car.  The same idiot drove up, told me he hadn't known he had 2 gas tanks on his pickup, and that the buddy he called had told him how to switch tanks (note he hadn't had time to talk to anyone on the phone before driving off).  Said that since his buddy was already on the way, could he still wait in our parking lot for him?  I okayed that just because the guy was giving off a serious creep vibe, and I didn't want to speak with him for any length of time.

As soon as I said he could wait he thanked me, then drove off again.  When I told the boss about it he said to call the police if the guy showed up again since he was loitering, and appeared to be casing the building.  If he is casing the place it's not too bright letting me see what he looked like as well as the license plate of his vehicle.

O_O okay...
Someone I've never seen before pulled into the parking lot across 2 parking spaces, got out of his truck, took a large metal tray, threw it loudly onto the pavement twice, threw the tray back in his truck, jumped up and down a few times, got back in his truck, and drove off.

I... just....

You know, I don't even WANT to know what that was about.

I Loathe Yard Sales...

Don't get me wrong, going to yard/garage sales can be a lot of fun. What I really dislike is giving a yard sale.

Mother had this bright idea to have a combined yard sale with one of her friends. It was set to start at 7:30 a.m., so of course we're up at 5 a.m. to start setting up. By 5:45 people were already trying to come up to the sale, so one of us had to stay in the front yard to watch the stuff.

Then the thieves started showing up. When I caught a teenager trying to steal a hat (it was only 50 cents what is WRONG with people?!?) she threw it at me and ran.

Then there was a woman that was stuffing things in her bag and kept trying to slip away. We played sheepdog with her. Every time she'd try to go left, there'd be Mom. She'd go right and run into me.

Finally she tried to pay us $2 and said she only had "a few things". She threw a fit about how Mom was accusing her of stealing when Mom insisted she look through the bag. Imaging the woman's shock when we found out she had about $20 worth of clothes and glassware in her bag.

There was even a kid who came up and stole a few small items. That doesn't even count the people that tried to get us to go down to insane prices on our stuff. Seriously if something is only 25 cents, what can we go down to, a penny?

Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!

Status Confirmed...
 Still the office weirdo.

Not my fault really, they shouldn't have left all those bags of toys in the corner of my office. Not my fault that about 5 Slinkys fell out of one of the bags. What else was I going to do but set up a Slinky obstacle course and race the Slinkys around my office?

I mean seriously, everyone knows I have all the self control of a brain damaged baboon on crack. I don't know why they acted so surprised.
